when i leave prague

...and CET asks me to fill out the inevitable "customer satisfaction" bs that they will never actually take into account, I will focus in on one factor, no matter how awesome the rest of the semester turns out: I am leaving in 6 days and I still don't have my passport.

From what I've gathered from friends who are also studying abroad, most programs/countries/whatever require that you get your visa yourself. You turn in the application. You give them the self-addressed envelope. You go pick it up. If you're screwed over in the end, well, you screwed yourself.

But CET takes a new approach: why suffer the minor inconveniences of relying on yourself when you can suffer the major inconveniences of allowing them to be incompetent for you?

Those of us traveling to Prague with CET were told we should send our application materials and passport to CET's office in DC, and they'd take care of the rest of it for us. We were lucky! We had it easy! We leaned back in our chairs, smug with the knowledge that we had way less shit to do than those chumps going to Spain.

Only the chumps going to Spain received their passports roughly 3 weeks later, whereas I mailed mine in 90+ days ago and have seen hide nor hair of it since. As of Friday, I was told that they will "hopefully" have it by Tuesday and overnight it to me by Wednesday. Yeah...hopefully!? Are they aware of some secret plane ticket clause that allows me to push back my departure by 4 days for FREE???

In other news, I've been watching Big Brother this summer as I do every summer, and there's some ginormous assholes this season. I'm kind of bummed I won't be able to watch it anymore after this week. And I'm SUPERBUMMED I won't be able to see Superbad! GEORGE MICHAEL BLUTH and a kid named McLovin...it has to be awesome.
